Island Estates Women’s Club

    Volume XIX No.3

Tuesday, November 15, 2022

Clearwater Yacht Club

830 Bayway Blvd, Clearwater Beach

11:00 am – 1:30  pm

Dearest Ladies,

WOW!  What a phenomenal event our Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser was.  It was so nice to see so many of you there and some I had not seen in quite a while.  We even SOLD OUT two days before reservations were supposed to close.  Thank you all for coming and supporting the Mammography Voucher Program.

I would especially like to thank Patti Jucha for all of her hard work gathering donations.  She put her organizational skills to the test and succeeded remarkably.  There are many Board Members who went out of their way to solicit and support this special event.  Patti mentioned all of them in her article below, so I will not repeat them.

Next month we have our 5 O’clock Somewhere on November 2nd at The Honu Restaurant in Dunedin.  Our Luncheon is on November 15th at the Clearwater Yacht Club.  Join us for the beautiful views and great food.

As the Holidays approach, I know many of you will be traveling to share them with friends and family.  Please travel safely and enjoy every minute you get to spend with them.  Our November and December Luncheons are early in the month, so I hope you will be able to join us before you head out of town.

I wish all of you a happy, healthy Thanksgiving.  We have so very much to be thankful for.  The friends we have made and will make in our Club add a special camaraderie and fun to our sometimes way too busy lives.  We need to take the time to relax, converse and enjoy each other’s company.  That is what our luncheons and activities allow us to do.  Slow down and smell the roses that friendship brings to each of our lives.

                With much love,

                Joan Landreth, President IEWC

“Pink Is Beautiful” Fundraiser: Update from Your Fundraiser Co-Chair, Patti Jucha

We are BEYOND EXCITED to announce that we had a sold-out crowd of 130 ladies and raised over $11,000!  What an accomplishment.

Through the generosity of area businesses and individuals, and the 130 members and guests who attended the “Pink Is Beautiful” Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness, we raised over $11,000 in support of the Mammography Voucher Program (MVP) of Pinellas County.  MVP provides free mammograms and treatment to low income men and women living in Pinellas County.  The IEWC has now contributed over $80,000 in the past 14 years to this worthwhile charity.

Attendees took home great prizes from the Silent Auction, Pick A Prize and Ribbon Tree.  Thanks to the members who donated prizes: Debbie Christofferson, Michelle Chenault, Laura Yeager, Lindsay Irwin, Vivian Smith, Kristin Vincelli, Sherry Harmon, Lori Lenhart, Genevieve Fortunato and Judy Ransom.

Thanks to the IEWC Board for their hard work on this event, and to all of the ladies who helped solicit donations: Joan Landreth, Lynne McCaskill, Karin Stewart, Wendy Bouffard, Sharyn Antico, Nancy Page, Donna Lobdell, Sharon Givens, Jan Sullivan, Lindsay Irwin, Mecia Bingham, Amber Davis and Vangie Pappas.

We could not have done it without ALL of you; thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hope to see you on Wednesday, December 14th for our Holiday Luncheon and Clothes To Kids Fundraiser at the beautiful Carlouel Country Club.  Look for more information in the December newsletter.
