IEWC Summer Newsletter 2022

We do hope you are enjoying your summer and that friends and family are happily delighting in your visits.

We on the Board and Committees of your Island Estates Women’s Club have been hard at work preparing for the 2022-2023 Club year beginning in September.  We have seen a few of you at our summer 5 O’clock Somewhere Happy Hours in June and July.  It was truly great connecting over the summer and not having to wait until September.

As your President, I felt it was important to let you know what we have been doing over these summer months.  I have included short articles from several of our Board Members and Committee Chairs.  I have also included the August and September events for you so that you can mark your calendars.

Upcoming Events

·        Thursday, August 4th from 5 to 7 pm—5 O’clock Somewhere at Clear Sky on Cleveland.

·        Thursday, September 1st from 5 to 7 pm—5 O’clock Somewhere at Island Way Grill.

·        Saturday, September 17th our first Field Trip will be Sip and Stroll in Downtown Clearwater.

·        Tuesday, September 20th will be our first Luncheon at Alfano’s Restaurant.

There will be a complete list of activities in the September Newsletter and on our Website, and of course, in the Yearbook.  We hope to see many of you at these events.  The first two Happy Hours have been a lot of fun.  Mingling and getting to know new people, making new friends and re-connecting with old ones has been great.

Hi! My name is Patti and I am the new Membership Chair.  I have big shoes to fill, as Joan Landreth has held that position for 16 years.  I previously served as Secretary, Hostess and Reservations Chair and am excited to be back on the Board.

A huge welcome to the new Members and welcome back to those who have renewed their Membership.  I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting the new members at our upcoming events.

If you know anyone who wants to join or renew, they can join online at or you can print the form from the website and mail it to me.

Luncheons & Venues

We have been hard at work planning the luncheons this summer.  We will be returning to some of our old venues, and adding some new ones.  The favorites are still there.  I would like to stress that we have worked very hard to keep the cost of luncheons as low as possible, but as all of you know, prices at restaurants have gone up.  When we chose venues, we tried to avoid the beach area during peak times and made sure there was ample parking to avoid having to carpool.  Some of the venues we have used in the past did not fit into our price point.  I hope you will enjoy these venues we have selected for you.

5 O’clock Somewhere

Want to mingle and have some fun with the ladies in the Island Estates Women’s Club?  Every month I plan an “It’s 5 O’clock Somewhere” event at different restaurants and bars in our area.  It is a casual evening beginning at 5 PM and here you’ll get to meet new friends and enjoy old friends while sipping your favorite beverage and munching on appetizers.  Often times some will stay for dinner as well.  Each month I will send out an announcement of the upcoming event with a link to easily RSVP.  The information is also posted on our website, www.islandestateswomen’ and in the Yearbook.  If you have more questions, please call or text me at 727-430-1911 or  CHEERS!!!

Website News from the Tech Team

Hello to all IEWC Members old and new.

You might have noticed some changes on our IEWC Website for Membership Registration, as well as for 5 O’clock Somewhere.  Have you wondered what’s going on?

As we move into the 2022-2023 Season, we are utilizing different tools in an attempt to do three things.  First, support our mission by making information and sign-up for all of our club activities easier to access from one spot.  Secondly, we are adopting a new payment platform specifically designed for non-profit organizations – keeping transaction fees low and our information secure.  And finally, we want to use updated technology tools to make the behind-the-scenes work of the club easier to manage for the Board Members who volunteer so much of their time behind the scenes.

Ladies, we hope that you will visit and use our Island Estates Women’s Club Website that has current information about all of our events.  There is a complete Calendar of Events for the

year, Registration for Events, Press Releases, Past Newsletters, Community information, Scholarship information, the Annual Cruise and a Members Only section.  Please visit:
